How does counselling help?
Counselling can give you a safe and comfortable space to freely discuss and explore things that you may not feel able to do with family and friends.
With support and at your pace we will explore your experiences, worries and emotions, enabling you to move your life forward.
The benefits of counselling vary from person to person, but you may find:
- You gain a new clarity or self-understanding
- A growth in your self esteem
- You are able to process painful experiences or emotions
- Feelings of being stuck finally begin to shift
Counselling can enable you to move your life forward. The experience of truly feeling heard and accepted can be empowering and transformative. It offers a unique environment in which we are free to consider our lives in a new way.
What happens in a counselling session?
We are all unique and so counselling is therefore different for everyone. There is no set pattern or formula to follow. We will work in a way that is suitable for you and at a pace at which you are comfortable – you will be respected and won’t be asked to discuss things you are uncomfortable with until you are ready.
What is Humanistic counselling?
There are many different types of counselling and you will be looking for the right therapy for you.
Humanistic therapy encompasses ideas from the Person-Centred, Gestalt, Existential and Transactional Analysis schools of thought. It promotes self-development, personal autonomy and responsibility.
Humanistic therapy is respectful of your individuality and we will work at a pace that is right for you.
We may discuss your past experiences, but also the here and now, as we explore your patterns, beliefs and your unique individuality.
